10-step NO SEW Sock Babies

This community is dead.

Here's a NO SEW craft you can do with your kids.
Ten VERY EASY steps.

Step ONE:
Find a single sock (dryer monster's leftovers), a pair of tights, etc...

If using tights, flip them inside-out.

If using socks, skip to step FIVE.

Step TWO:
If using tights, cut the legs free. Discard the rest.

Step THREE:
If using tights, use embroidery floss, string, rubberband, etc... to bind one end of each leg piece.

Step FOUR flip Right-side-out.

(Here's where tights/socks are caught up to each other)

Step FIVE:
Fill 2/3 with fiberfill (or use remainder of tights or whatever you wish) until it's a good size for a body in proportion to the rest of your doll.

Step SIX:
Once you have the desired body shape, bind the "neck" with another rubberband, embroidery floss, string, etc...

Step SEVEN:
Stuff more filling into the doll to create a proportionate head.

Step EIGHT:
Bind at the top of the head.

Step NINE:
Turn extra fabric at top over the head to create a hat.

Step TEN: Decorate with fabric paint however you desire. Let dry before flipping the 'hat' back over if you paint hair.

For an extra step, you can create "clothes" out of other single socks (just putting a sock over the sock baby makes it look like it's swaddled in a blanket. I recommend cutting a small piece of thin ribbon to cover the rubberband "neck" just to make it prettier. I had a lot of extra tights material and just cut a strip of that instead and tied a bow around it.

Love and enjoy.

For a much larger doll, try using the leg of a pair of pants.
I haven't done it yet but would love to see your results if you give it a whirl.
